October Foodie Penpals

At the end of September, I noticed all these great Foodie Pen Pal posts that were popping up in the blogiverse. At the time I was in San Francisco thoroughly enjoying a delicious breakfast at Mama's, I shot Lindsay of The Lean Green Bean an email to sign up. (Though I'm a little embarrassed to admit my phone autocorrect mispelled her name, sorry Lindsay!)

My pen pal this month was Lele of Lele Lurves Plants. Lele put together a lovely spread of food for me and an adorable collage card. :)
On the menu:
  • Valencia Peanut Butter packages
  • Mochi!
  • Chai tea
  • Snapea Crisps
  • Deliciously fragrant Greek herb mixture
  • And apple muffins (not pictured) - but delicious!
I love mochi! Eric occasionally picks them up from the Asian grocery when we stop by and I love the texture of the rice.
I'll admit that I'm not a big tea drinker, and so I haven't had a chance to try the chai tea out yet. I'm sure Eric will also drink some since he loves tea.
I'm super (super super) excited about this. It smells delicious and I want to follow Lele's instructions to make it, but I haven't had the opportunity yet. It's got pretty much everyone of my favorite herbs in it.
I heart peanut butter. That is all. :)
It occurs to me as I'm writing this post that these would have been a perfect complement to my lunch today. I'm out of Pirate's Booty and I love having crispy, crunchy foods with my sandwich. Now I'm sad I forgot to stick them in my lunch box. :( There's always tomorrow!
Lele, I love collages too so this little handmade card was pretty adorable. I really enjoyed Foodie Penpals this month and I look forward to doing it again in the future.

If you're interested in joining in on Foodie Penpals, here’s some information about the program:
  • On the 5th of every month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. It will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions.
  • You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal!
  • The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treats! The spending limit is $15. The box must also include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination!
  • You are responsible for figuring out the best way to ship your items depending on their size and how fragile they are. (Don’t forget about flat rate boxes!)
  • Foodie Penpals is open to blog readers as well as bloggers. If you’re a reader and you get paired with a blogger, you are to write a short guest post for your penpal to post on their blog about what you received. If two readers are paired together, neither needs to worry about writing a post for that month. US Residents only please at this time- hopefully we can expand soon!
If you’re interested in participating for November, please send an email to theleangreenbean@gmail.com and include the following information:
  • Your full name
  • Your email address
  • Your blog name/address
  • Your twitter handle (if applicable)
She'll need to hear from you by November 4th as pairings will be emailed on November 5th!

Have you ever had a pen pal before? I did when I was in 4th grade but it certainly doesn't compare to how much fun Foodie pen pals are! :)
