Lowell 1st 10K: Week Zero

Source: Lowell 1st Run
About a month ago, while Eric was in Vegas, I started thinking about my race schedule for 2012. I knew I wanted to run a race in early January, just to get the year off to a good start. I poked around Cool Running and Running In The USA in search of a race. Nothing really struck my fancy until I came across this race. I was drawn in by the fact that there are tech t-shirts, tech hats and a finisher's medal for both the 5K and 10K version of the race. It also has chip timing and a decent course profile.

I waffled about whether I'd sign up for the 5K or the 10K, but I ended up going with the 10K. If I'm going to get all that wicked sweet swag, then I'm darn well going to earn it. I considered it's proximity to my Thanksgiving race with a bit of uncertainty, but decided that it will actually benefit me since I'll be in decent 10K shape given the extra 4.5 weeks of training through the holiday season.

Now that I've finished the 5K training, it seems like a good time to reassess the pace chart. My race time puts me between two rows in my pace table, so I've decided to use a range for training times. This gives me a little more freedom when I'm not quite feeling up to snuff.
I finalized the tiny little training plan on Saturday and you can check it out here. I'm pretty excited for this race and can't wait to get another 10K under my belt. This week's training schedule looks like this:

Do you have any races planned for the winter? Or are you hibernating until Spring comes? Lemme know in a comment down below!
