I tried it: Zumba!

I've been hearing about Zumba for a couple of years now from several different sources. It's marketed as a "fitness party" and I honestly hadn't heard anything bad about it. However, I resisted the trend, being skeptical  of anything that declaimed you could burn a ridiculous amount of calories in an hour. I'll readily admit now that I also avoided trying it because I believed myself to be completely incapable of the sort of coordination dancing seems to require.
As I spend a lot (a freaking lot) of time analyzing what, why and how I feel about certain things, I came to the realization that I was treating Zumba like I used to treat Brussels sprouts. I wasn't giving it a fair chance, so I sent Tina an IM and told her that when she was ready I would go to a Zumba class with her.

Once I realized that it's completely silly to expect myself not to feel awkward at first, I just let go and had fun. In fact, I had so much fun last Monday that I went again on Thursday! I've totally fallen in love with Zumba and I've already factored it into my training plan for the next few months. It also occurred to me that everyone is so focused on keeping up with the moves themselves that no one is even looking at me. There's basically no reason to  feel self-conscious at all. If you haven't tried Zumba, and are considering it, I totally recommend it. Take Nike's advice and just do it!

Have you tried Zumba? Did you love it or hate it? If you haven't tried it, do you want to? Lemme know in a comment below! :)
