August Foodzie Box

It's that time of the month again.
Foodzie Box time!
(p.s. I totally call it the "Foozy" box)
In this month's box, we have:
  • Gourmet Scooping Ketchup
  • Frozen Hot Chocolate
  • Sweet Potato Chips
  • Nut Butter Sample (Honey Peanut Butter, Original Peanut Butter, Chocolate Hazelnut Butter and Maple Almond Butter)
  • Marshmallow Crunch Bar
  • Nut and Herb Bars (Sage and Almond, Coconut something or other )
As you might expect, given my professed love for peanut butter, I'm most excited about the nut butter sampler pack. Except the Maple Almond Butter - yuck. I gave that to Eric as soon as I opened the box. He said it didn't really taste like maple, but I still wasn't interested in trying it. If a food has maple in it and says so right on the packaging, I'm instantly turned off by it. If it says maple and walnut, that's like the food death sentence.

Anyhow...back to the nut butters.
I liked the chocolate hazelnut butter; it was exactly what I was expecting.  I definitely prefer its ingredients to Nutella's, for sure, but that being said , I didn't like it enough to want to spend nearly $10 on a jar of it. Especially with the rapidity with which I go through nut butter.

After reading the ingredients on the peanut butter packets, I knew that I probably wouldn't like them. I'm extremely picky about my peanut butter. I don't think that peanut butter should not have added sugar, fat or salt. I want my peanut butter to be just peanuts dry roasted and ground into a lovely paste. I expect that I have to store it in the refrigerator to prevent it from separating. However, because I'm so picky about my peanut butter, I can't really give these a fair chance. Ultimately if you like Skippy or Jif, or any of the popular name brand peanut butters, you'll like these.
I rather liked these sweet potato chips, but I think they could have been a little saltier. I had them with with a turkey sandwich on an English Muffin with some little baby pickles on the side. They're definitely not your standard lays potato chip for sure, but they completed that lunch for me.
Neither Eric, nor I, were overly impressed by this marshmallow crunch bar. It tastes, looks and the ingredient are the exact same as a Rice Krispie treat. We're not sure how this is a grown-up version of the childhood favorite.
I've not tried this ketchup yet, but I might have to make some baked potato fries (is it really a fry if it's not ...fried?).
These are basically raw granola bars. The coconut one was alright...a little too sweet for my tastes. I'm planning on toasting the sage one and having it for a snack one of these days.
I specifically went out and bought some almond milk for use with the frozen hot chocolate mix. I made 6 little almond milk ice cubes, tossed them into the blender with 4 oz of french vanilla yogurt and some of the mix. It was a refreshingly chocolate-y dessert. I'm glad that the package was multiple servings because this will definitely help fulfill my chocolate cravings!
