It's just another manic Monday...

I wish it were still Sunday! :(

Eric and I kicked off our weekend by going to visit some of his friends from college in Lynnfield. We enjoyed ourselves so we ended up staying pretty late and got home well past my bed time, which was the second night in a row for me. I transitioned from consciousness to sleep in about 10 minutes from the time we got home. I didn't even bother with my Kindle, which I'm known to fall asleep gripping.

Then on Saturday, one of my friends from college, Mikey, who I haven't seen in forever (I'm pretty sure he spends 90% of his time on travel!) came by to chat and play Dominion with Eric and me. I was pretty lax in taking pictures and I'm pretty sure neither Mikey, nor Eric really enjoy having their picture taken.

the new blog logo!
I've not posted about it, but lately I've been thinking a lot about getting my own domain name and making my blog a little more personalized. It's one of the few hobbies that I've actually kept up with and enjoy doing, so I've decided I don't want it to look...well, crappy. You'll note that I've created my own banner for the blog (woo! go me!) and I used Vistaprint to create a logo. I certainly do not have any sort of artistic eye for that kind of thing, and Vistaprint had reasonable prices.

I might even buy an O'Reilly book on CSS so that I can create my very own blog template. We'll see, as I still have many chapters of personal training materials to get through, and I still want to be certified. After I finished mucking around with all the blog changes and banner creation on Sunday, I went grocery shopping and came home (as usual) with a bunch of produce that required prep.
nom, nom, nom berries!
I had a cluster of vine ripened tomatoes from last week that were starting to get mushy so I got creative and decided to stew them in my tiny crockpot and make a creamy tomato-basil sauce out of them.
Tomatoes, kosher salt and basil...simple enough.

Then, still feeling creative, I took 4 oz of the ground turkey breast that I'd just bought, combined it with the remaining half of an avocado that I had in the fridge. I have had egg roll wrappers in the fridge for a good two months now, just sitting there, so my brain thought, "Turkey-Avocado Ravioli with Creamy Tomato-Basil Sauce!"

Note that there are no pictures of this dish...

This is not because it was bad per se, but because it look horrifically unappetizing. I took all the notes I need to make it again but man, I have got to learn to spice things better. It was quite bland and the sauce tasted more like creamy tomato-basil soup which wasn't quite what I was intending. Alas!
